Friends of Pheasantbrook

How we got started....
Brainstorming for Friends of Pheasantbrook began in 2009 when residents began discussing ways to upgrade the run down playgrounds throughout the community. A few years later, motivated by the needs of our children and encouraged by the discovery of KaBoom.org, (an organization focused on helping communities build playgrounds) residents of Pheasantbrook began energetically making plans to raise funds to upgrade the playgrounds. One idea led to another, one person's experience built on another person's experience, and the Friends of Pheasantbrook was officially organized in January of 2011, with goals expanding far beyond the playgrounds...

Our Mission is....
To encourage healthy, balanced lives for the people of our community and beyond, by focusing on three main principles:

1) Making Healthy Choices: from the food we eat to the activities we choose, every day we make choices that can add or subtract from the balance of health in our lives. But being healthy is more than just physical, it's also mental. Our next two principles help influence a healthy mentality about ourselves.

2) Serving Others: a balanced live can mean many different things, we hope to encourage the idea of serving others and one's community on a regular basis as part of a balanced life.

3) Taking time for our selves: Wait-is that right? First we say serve others, and now we're talking about taking time for yourself?  Yes, that's what we mean.  Taking care of your self is a very  important part of a balanced life.  Whether you take time to relax, to mediate, to spend time with family or friends-all of this is important to having a healthy, balanced life.
